Feast (2005)

I haven’t had this much fun watching a movie since Assault on Precinct 13,  Dead End Drive-In, Attack the Block, Dog Soldiers, Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil, or Hobo with a Shotgun.

It’s about a bunch of people, including Henry Rollins, Jay from Jay and Silent Bob (Jason Mewes), Treach from OPP fame, and Judah Friedlander (the world’s greatest guy), who are trapped in a bar while some big-assed monster(s) are outside terrorizing them.  I watched this over 3 years ago, but I think the colorful cast adds quite a bit as they try to figure out how to defeat the creatures or escape.  Of course, some people are killed and the plot isn’t anything that you haven’t already seen before, but damn it’s a fun ride.  It’s also interesting to see how people bind together and use their resources to accomplish a common goal. I enjoyed it way more than The Mist.

I will agree with another review that the “shaky cam”/sped up effect is overused. I think fans of Zombieland or Altered may enjoy this one as well.  If you want to take it to the next level, watch Bad Taste (which is one of my favorite movies of all time).

There is also a Feast II and III which I haven’ seen.  If you check those out before I do, please let me know how they are.
